![]() ![]() as a sorcerer or a wizard.Ī couple well-documented examples are clone and simulacrum. Wish lets you cast either of them for free. Reincarnate comes with a similar cost and is normally only accessible to druids. It takes an hour to cast and costs a diamond worth 1,000 gp. Wish is full of bizarre interactions, mainly because it avoids material components and doesn't care about spell list restrictions. I think I'll also point out that it's very thematic for a caster to eventually be able to do anything they want. Or you could pass this door if only someone could cast Remove Curse. If something goes wrong, like you suddenly need to raise the cleric and don't have time to go back to town, Wish suddenly proves irreplaceable. ![]() Like you said, it uses a 9th level slot that in most encounters would be better used for other things. In contrast, you have Wish that you probably won't be popping off everyday. Why wouldn't you when it's a fantastic defensive spell? It will probably pay great dividends in most of your encounters. With Foresight you will absolutely be using it everyday. That said, let's look at spell use on a day-to-day level. ![]() Of course, as you've pointed out, with great reward comes great risk. Flexibility is huge and Wish is potentially the multi-tool of the universe. That is that you have a spell for all occasions and a solution to most problems, given enough time and preparation. The way I see it, Wish is the culmination of all it means to be a wizard. I don’t think Foresight is worse than Wish but why is it always pushed aside? I must be missing something about Wish and I am asking you to tell me what it is. On top of all that, attack rolls against you are at disadvantage. Then I see Foresight which lasts 8 hours and gives me advantage the whole time on all of my attack rolls, ability checks and saving throws on top of being unable to be surprised. There are downsides and risks with attempting to word a custom effect. Alternatively, you can perform a mass heal, create something worth up to 25k gold etc. I understand it is any spell you choose but nonetheless, it is always going to be weaker than an actual 9th level spell effect. Wish can be used to duplicate a lower level spell which many people considered to be ridiculously amazing but why? You are essentially using a 9th level spell to create a less than 9th level spell effect. I feel like I MUST be missing something crucial here. I have searched the internet regarding the Foresight and Wish spell for 5e DnD and am surprised to see people consistently saying the Foresight is much worse. ![]()
